If you’re an interior design junkie with passion for novelties, new trends and announcements, than continue reading this post. With closure of 2016 it’s the most opportune time to start looking ahead into 2017 in search of the next big thing in the interior design. I can say 2017 is going to be a vibrant year with lots of natural tones, both in color and material which make me very excited – I can’t wait to see them applied across the Middle East. Now, without further ado let’s delve into five trends and inspiration for your next interior design project, be it an apartment or a house.

1. White on White

Truth to be told, you can never go wrong with white color. But what you need to look for in 2017 is to combine white with more white color or off white. There is a thin line between a luxury white room and room that starts to feel clinical hence, you have to know how to combine white textures with white palette to avoid the hospital white feeling of too much white to bare handle. A white room with balanced white palette and beautifully combined white textures can be rich with character.

2. Graphic Floor and/or Wall Tiles

What better way to make your kitchen standout than to play with variety of graphic floor and/or wall tiles. Graphic tiles will make a kitchen look both modern and vintage which is the look that’s going to be in demand in 2017 and onwards and that’s the look that will be wanted in the year to come. If you want to deliver a visual impact than choose graphic tiles with black and chalky white patterns.

3. Terracotta

If you like more “nature like” interior designs then there is a big chance that you will be one of those people who will experiment with timeless terracotta details which is lots of fun, I promise. Terracotta as a material is mostly used in Spanish Revival or Mediterranean styled homes and it’s  going to be interesting to see how it will blend in modern homes. This material has been around since the beginning of time and will undoubtedly live on for centuries to come.

4. Color of the year: Greenery

Pantone Color Institute (the color-management company) has made an insightful pick for Color of the Year for 2017: Greenery. A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings and can be paired with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels and metallics which will be found in many color combinations. If you fear that this green might be a bit too intense in large doses, you can add it in smaller ways, such as through decorative elements like pillows, curtains, light fixtures and other accessories.

5. High-tech toilets

According to a study of 2016 bathroom trends of the homeowners who are upgrading their toilet during a remodel, 20 percent will choose a model with at least one high-tech feature. As technology is more and more embedded into our lives, we are looking for ways to save time and to make our lives easier. Some of those ways are high-tech toilets with features that include self-cleaning, overflow and anti-clog protection, motion-activated seat and cover, built-in nightlight (as shown here), heated seating, self-deodorizer and hands-free flushing.
